Our Rating: 4.8/5
One of the highest spec’d treadmills that NordicTrack offers, the Commercial 2950 was built for serious workout buffs that appreciate the best technology and build quality have to offer.
With its 4.25 CHP motor and 22″ touchscreen, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better treadmill from a competing brand. Read on to the below review to learn more about the 2950, and feel free to ask us any questions you might have during your research!
Whether you are a fitness Queen or King, the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 Treadmill will have you wearing your crown proudly. The highest end model in the NordicTrack Commercial Series, the 2950 was specifically built to withstand long-term, consistent activity.
The 4.25 CHP DurX Commercial Plus Motor makes this treadmill tough and just as dependable as you are when it comes to exercising. The power in this motor is its Smart Response Drive System design, which promotes longevity and a comfortable user experience. Its smart technology results in the motor self-soothing through cooling itself down while in use, so you can work as hard as you want without fear of the motor not being able to catch up.
Despite its raging strength, you’d never guess just how much power this smart response drive motor packs as it’s self-cooling also results in reduced vibration and more quiet function. The 4.25 CHP DurX Commercial Plus Motor is the most powerful motor you can get on any NordicTrack treadmill, including the most expensive model NordicTrack makes, the Commercial X32i treadmill.
If you’re a sprinter, a runner or simply someone who prefers lengthy distance workouts, a motor with 4.25 CHP of strength is a lasting investment, as it’s a workhouse that’ll be ready to run with you, day after day for years to come. Furthermore, reduced vibration isn’t the only comfort-enhancing quality the Commercial 2950 holds; the Runners Flex Cushioning was trademarked and created by NordicTrack and is offered exclusively on its Commercial Series treadmills.
The Commercial 2950 reigns supreme when compared to traditional treadmills due to its declining feature. A -3% decline range will take your indoor exercise outdoors by better simulating road running and varying terrain grades. The declining ability combined with the boosted incline range of up to 15% ensures you’ll be experiencing more naturally driven movement from the interior of your home.
The inclusive 0-12 mph speed range ensures expansive muscle targeting so you can make the most out of your activity. Typically, if you’re fortunate to have a declining ability on your treadmill, you’d be unable to fold up the treadmill deck to save space. Making the Commercial 2950 treadmill even more special is that despite its declining feature, it still holds the SpaceSaver Design with EasyLift Access, so you can save on floor space without sacrificing the simulation of an outside road routine.
What’s more, the 22” x 60” Commercial Tread Belt out-competes the traditional treadmill’s average of 20” x 60”, meaning more room to move. NordicTrack’s Commercial Series treadmills utilize larger 2.5” Precision and Balanced NonFlex Rollers, which result in the Commercial 2950 treadmill being more durable and longer lasting than most of the other treadmills on the market, including NordicTrack’s T Series models. The increased size from the 1.9” rollers found on the T Series results in the Commercial 2950 treadmill being more up to a lifetime challenge as these bigger rollers help to reduce stress on the motor.
The NordicTrack Commercial 2950 is the top of the line model in the Commercial Series lineup and will have you feeling more distinguished than traditional treadmill owners.
NordicTrack is elite when it comes to technology. Sight-envy is real and immediately induced when seeing the size of the Commercial 2950’s screen. The outstanding 22” Smart HD Touchscreen makes needing a TV in your gym a null factor considering you basically have one built into your treadmill. All 22” of this Smart HD touchscreen was created to offer you easy and vibrant access to your workout stats, the included 40 on-board workouts, and the phenomenal iFit live studio classes offered through NordicTrack.
The exclusive membership for iFit is free for 1-year and costs a yearly fee to access after that time period is up. One membership accommodates up to four users, making it worth it if you have a multiple-user household. The membership grants you admittance to over 17,000 workouts with professional trainers.
Furthermore, making sure you get the most out of your -3% decline to 15% incline range is the Google Maps technology, which takes you virtually traveling across the world, leading to views of a lifetime while running, all from within the walls of your own home. The live, interactive training seems to be limitless as it not only accommodates cardio, but also cross-training such as yoga, weight lifting, incline, HIIT and sculpting.
Should you prefer not to travel to Thailand, Egypt or New Zealand, or anywhere else for that matter, you can elect to workout with trainers indoors, and in some cases from their own personal space. The personal training offered through iFit comes alive through interaction, as your trainers digitally control incline and speed, which means depending on the class you choose, all you have to do is show up, get on board and pick your preference.
One touch controls make everything that much more simple to navigate and the Bluetooth Audio Capabilities make connecting your smart devices easy and quick. Two impressive 3” Digitally Amplified Speakers work to make the sounds of your travels, trainer’s voices or your favorite music sound just like it’s all in the room with you. The Dual AutoBreeze Workout Fans will cool you down when your activity heats up.
If you’re in search of a treadmill that mirrors the current technology status of our world, the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 is one you can’t not consider.
As the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 is the top of the line model of the fierce NordicTrack Commercial Series, it naturally comes at the highest cost. However, the expensive price tag reflects the increased motor power and incredibly larger screen size over the Commercial 2450 treadmill. The Commercial 2450 comes with a 14” HD touchscreen and a 4.0 CHP motor, while the Commercial 2950 is stocked with 22” HD touchscreen and a 4.25 CHP motor. These are the only differences to note between the two models, so it’s up to where you place what matters most when making a decision.
Oddly, despite the Commercial 2950 treadmill being the highest end model in the Commercial Series, it’s 40 on-board workout programs are ten less than the cheaper Commercial 2450 treadmill, which contains 50 on-board workout programs. This difference could make the argument that the Commercial 2950 treadmill is worth the price jump if you plan on continuing the iFit membership beyond the first free year so you can get the most out of that larger screen.
Should you be looking to upgrade further and go beyond the Commercial Series, the highest end model NordicTrack creates is the X32i, their top-of-the-line Incline Series treadmill. The X32i treadmill will set you back roughly $1,000 dollars more, yet offers the exact same 4.25 CHP DurX Commercial Plus Motor as the Commercial 2950 model. If your usage is better suited for a 4.0 CHP motor, we definitely recommend the NordicTrack Commercial x22i treadmill. The same price as the Commercial 2950 treadmill, the sacrifice of .25 CHP motor strength will grant you an insane -6% decline to 40% incline range and the same 22” HD touchscreen, as the Incline Series is for the most part more impressive in ability than treadmills in the Commercial Series.
When focusing solely on the Commercial Series, the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 is priced expensively to account for the largest in-series screen size and the most powerful motor NordicTrack offers.
Pros and Cons
Cutting to the chase, if a 14” HD touchscreen is enough visually for you, we’d recommend opting for the middle of the road NordicTrack Commercial 2450 treadmill rather than the Commercial 2950 treadmill. The .25 commercial horsepower difference can only be felt long-term for those who have multiple users accessing the treadmill, extraordinarily long workouts, and/or utilize consistently high speed.
Another downside of the added cost of the Commercial 2950 treadmill is it a bit of a conundrum; if you aren’t planning on continuing the iFit membership beyond the included 1-year, the model only comes with 40 on-board workout programs versus the 50 on-board workout programs found on the cheaper Commercial 2450 treadmill. However, if you want to travel the world while exercising without the stress of obscene hours on a flight, the stunning 22” HD touchscreen of the Commercial 2950 is completely worth it’s weight in gold as the larger screen will provide an experience of immersion unlike the smaller screens on the Commercial 2450 and Commercial 1750 models.
The Runners Flex Cushioning works beautifully with the -3% decline to 15% incline range to better create the feeling of true outdoor road running. The 0-12 mph speed range will keep up with even your fastest pace and the SpaceSaver Design with EasyLift Assist will just plainly keep up your running deck so as to gain floor space when not in use. As noted in the build section, it can be hard to come by a treadmill with a decline feature which also folds up so we truly appreciate how that makes the Commercial 2950 a more unique find.
The dual built-in fans, bluetooth capability and two 3” digitally-amplified speakers help further an immersive outdoor experience much better than traditional treadmills. The greatest added benefit of the Commercial 2950 treadmill is the larger screen and more powerful motor, which is what makes it top the NordicTrack Commercial Series.

Warranty and Guarantee
While NordicTrack fans, a ding in our book is the less than astounding warranty when compared to other fitness equipment brands. While other brands such as Horizon and Sole provide a lifetime warranty on both the motor and the frame, the Commercial 2950 treadmill only gives you a 10-year warranty on the frame and none on the motor.
The 2-years parts warranty and 1-year labor warranty are less cause for concern. That being said, should you want extra coverage, NordicTrack provides the option of an extended coverage plan at an additional cost. Provided through Universal Technical Services are options for in-home repairs, coverage on parts and labor, and preventative maintenance. The plans available can be reviewed in detail in the product manual of the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 which is available on the treadmill’s website page linked in this article.
NordicTrack is a longstanding reputable company founded in 1975, giving them years of experience to create some of the best treadmills on the market today, which is why we wish the limited warranty coverage was just a bit more than what is currently available.
Summing Up This Review
If you’re a heavy-hitting go-getter when it comes to workout intensity, this treadmill could just be a right match for you. With the most powerful motor NordicTrack creates, the raging 4.25 CHP DurX Commercial Plus Motor will certainly rise to the challenge of keeping up with your stride.
For those interested in road running or outdoor exercise simulation, the -3% decline to 15% incline range of the Commercial 2950 and Runners Flex cushioning can certainly be appreciated.
And finally, if you’re looking for a more technologically advanced workout experience, the 22-inch HD Smart Touchscreen display, when paired with the awe-inducing travels of the iFit programming and crisp sound of the dual 3” Digitally Amplified Speakers the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 treadmill offers will create a truly immersive workout experience unmatched by rivals.
