LifeSpan TR2000i Folding Review 2020

          Our Rating: 4.4/5

At the same price point as it’s 2000e sibling, the LifeSpan TR2000i is one of the cheaper treadmills in LifeSpan’s lineup, and is best-suited for walkers and light joggers.

While the two are priced the same, the TR2000i forgoes the electric folding technology of the TR2000e and instead offers a 1″ larger screen with touch technology; this, and the warranties provided (which we’ll get to in the review below), are the two main differences between the models.

Build Quality

LifeSpan understands that when it comes to fitness routines, preferences vary vastly based on the different levels of strength, age and overall health goals. In order to be inclusive regardless of where you are in your health journey, LifeSpan has created treadmills with altering features, so you get the choice of selecting one that best suits your specific needs. LifeSpan can be counted on for top-notch quality and a substantial amount of consumer options at competitive prices.

Created specifically with the power to accommodate walkers and light joggers, or a one-person household who is interested in infrequently picking up the pace, the TR2000i Folding Treadmill holds a 2.5 HP continuous-duty DC motor. In regards to differing types of treadmill motors, continuous-duty is the most consistent and well-built motor you can get, assuring you that the TR2000i is here to play ball rather than needing to rest on the bench.

A unique feature to the way LifeSpan maps out their treadmills are the dually located  2.5” front and 2” rear rollers, whose large size results in strengthening the already sturdy two-ply belt. Should you have a space where having home gym equipment strewn about isn’t conducive to your environment, the EZFold technology will help you to preserve said space. Calling upon hydraulic shock makes the unfolding and folding of the ¾” phenolic with brace deck a breeze.

Backing the weight of the deck is the soft-drop system, which ensures safe deck lowering. Taking safety precautions further are the ETL/ETLc and FCC certifications the Lifespan TR2000i Folding Treadmill holds. Furthermore, the non-slip plastic side rails present you a safe space of non-motion to stand on while stopping or starting the treadmill.

Should you need to move the treadmill to a different location, the four transport wheels, located in both the front and rear of the TR2000i Folding Treadmill, allow you to roll it wherever your space-saving heart desires. A weight capacity of 300 pounds makes the TR2000i Folding Treadmill more capable than the TR1200i Folding Treadmill, which offers a measly 200 pound weight capacity.

Making the TR2000i Folding Treadmill even more beneficial are the 8 independent compression shocks designed to provide ample deck suspension, and whose presence reduces joint injury and muscle strain, warding off the hard impact a traditional treadmill workout results in. The 0.5 mph-11 mph speed range and 15 levels of incline make the LifeSpan TR2000i Folding Treadmill a more than worthy competitor to meet your activity needs.

Technology

Where the LifeSpan TR2000i Folding Treadmill was designed to shine, aside from being durably made with competitive pricing, is its technology. Within the budget-friendly LifeSpan lineup, the TR2000i Folding Treadmill one ups the TR1200i Treadmill and the TR2000e Electric Folding Treadmill with its touchscreen display.

The 7” touchscreen console offers up dazzling full-color and concurrent readouts so you can see just how much progress you’re making. An intuitive dashboard allows you to choose between three different interfaces. We appreciate how at the swipe of a finger you get to personalize the look of your display. The fun Quick Draw Technology enables you to customize your incline and speed by simply dragging your finger. The Simple Touch Console Buttons give the TR2000i Folding treadmill the perfect amount of sensitivity.

Should you want to forego the touchscreen occasionally, the user-friendly and large keys placed beneath the touchscreen display, including a QuickSet button to get you going faster, will give you the best of both worlds. We appreciate how the TR2000i Folding Treadmill doesn’t make you go all in with the touchscreen if you’re not feeling it on a given day.

Upping your tech game is the built-in bluetooth connectivity that pair your device with the dual bluetooth speakers, enhancing your sweat time by amplifying your favored podcasts, music or movies. Furthermore, the 17 preset programs will get you going far beyond competitive brands. To give you an idea, the Horizon T101 treadmill, while cheaper, offers a minimal five workout programs, bare bones technology, a smaller running surface as well as a lower speed and incline range, making the LifeSpan TR2000i Folding Treadmill the better pick for those looking for variety in their workouts.

However, the TR2000i Folding Treadmill doesn’t stop at 17 preloaded workouts; this diverse beauty offers an additional two heart rate programs, as well as two custom workouts, so you can combine your favorite treadmill routines into a program you can call upon whenever you want.

One incredibly cool thing to note about LifeSpan is that they commissioned sports psychologists to design their treadmill programing to best increase your health, advance your cardiovascular function and burn more fat. Keep your pedometer at home, well, we mean in the other room, as the TR2000i Folding treadmill is equipped with Intelli-Step technology and counts every step you take.

The USB port is great if you’re interested in plugging in your smart device while the tablet holder provides hands-free set-up. That being said, we’d prefer if the convenient smart device holder wasn’t located directly in front of the touchscreen display, as we personally like the visibility of our progress in tandem with our exercise entertainment. However, if you’re more of a listener rather than a watcher while you work-out, or if you have a TV in your home gym already, this won’t be something you’ll have to consider.

Overall, this model is optimal for those wanting touchscreen technology at a wallet-friendly price point.

Price Point

The greatest factor when shopping for treadmills is usually finding one that will fit within your budget without sacrificing long-term quality. LifeSpan is an established company who creates not only trusted treadmills, but also recumbent bikes, ellipticals, exercise bikes and workplace fitness equipment.

While not applicable to your treadmill search, it’s helpful to know how vast of a fitness company LifeSpan is. This revelation brings the assurance that LifeSpan creates varying exercise equipment with a primary focus on user wellness. Adding to this, they have the means to achieve lasting results and have been safety certified to be the secure option to have in a home full of loved ones.

LifeSpan offers three treadmills that have been equipped with the same 2.5 HP continuous-duty motor and are at a similar price-point. The TR1200i treadmill is the cheapest, while the TR2000i treadmill and TR2000e treadmill are the same price. While these treadmills hold the same motor power, running surface, speed range and incline levels, there are differentiating factors to weigh between the three.

The areas that make them unique to each other are their motor warranties, weight limits and technology. The TR1200i treadmill is the cheapest, has a lowered 200-pound weight limit, and smaller 5 year motor warranty. The TR2000i treadmill has the best technology by way of a touchscreen display, an increased 300-pound weight limit, and smaller 5 year motor warranty. The TR2000e treadmill has electric folding at the press of a button, an increased 300-pound weight limit, and an unmatched lifetime motor warranty.

Considering LifeSpan is a very reputable company, each of these treadmills will provide you the longevity you are looking for when making an investment. The TR2000i Folding Treadmill is a prime example of durability at a competitive price.

Pros and Cons

The biggest consideration call-out we can make is based on the lower horsepower the LifeSpan TR2000i has. While the continuous duty DC motor is the best type of motor you can get in a treadmill, the 2.5 HP it offers is not a match for runners. This amount of horsepower is best for walkers and light joggers, or a one person household not looking to use the treadmill every single day.

If you’re drawn to the enhanced safety design of LifeSpan products but are a fierce runner, we recommend looking into the best selling TR5500i treadmill, which packs a punch of 4.0 horsepower and will get you a better workout with its declining ability and greatly enhanced built-in work out programs. If walking, jogging and touchscreen technology is your forte, the LifeSpan TR2000i Folding Treadmill will more than meet your needs and certainly save you money should you not need the additional horsepower.

Taking the theme of saving further is the space you’ll save using its EZFold Technology. Bringing the deck length from 70.7” to 41.2” will provide you almost 30 inches (29.5” to be precise) of additional floor space when folded. Affirming its formation on behalf of walkers and joggers is the 20” W x 56” running surface, as an increased running surface of 22” W x 60”, such as the surface on the LifeSpan TR 4000i Folding Treadmill, is far better suited for runners.

A huge pro to the TR2000i Folding treadmill comes in the form of the lifetime frame warranty that’s included with purchase. Furthermore, it’s difficult to find touchscreen technology at such a reasonable price, which is why the LifeSpan TR2000i Folding treadmill is a good choice for the budget-conscious buyer looking to move at a slower pace but finds value in innovative technology.

Warranty and Guarantee

Coming in hot is the lifetime frame warranty provided with the LifeSpan TR2000i Folding treadmill. A 5-year motor warranty is appreciated, however we obviously wished for lifetime coverage, like on the TR2000e. That being said, we’ll take all the motor coverage we can get, considering NordicTrack doesn’t provide any motor warranty coverage and only 10-year frame warranties, making the TR2000i Folding treadmill very appealing in comparison.

A 2-year warranty on parts and a 1-year warranty on labor also provide short-term protection should you need it. As a side note, the TR2000e offers 5-years and 1-year, respectively. The only real concern we have is the decreased motor coverage, yet due to the TR2000i Folding treadmill’s motor being continuous duty DC, we’re not too worried considering a home treadmill motor like that is built to last.

Summing Up This Review

If you’re a walker or jogger looking for a trusted treadmill with a touchscreen display, but don’t have a giant budget and still require space-saving folding capability, the LifeSpan TR2000i Folding Treadmill is solid option.
