Our Rating: 4.2/5
The cheapest of LifeSpan’s treadmill lineup, the TR1200i is a solid option for walkers and joggers who don’t consider themselves ‘fitness buffs’. If you intend to train and want a treadmill that can handle consistent running, we’d recommend looking to another treadmill in LifeSpan’s lineup.
That being said, if you’re looking for a sub $1,000 treadmill option and slower-paced exercise, continue to the Build Quality section of this review!
Treadmills, as giant operational machines easily accessible within your home, can pose hazard should there be no safety precautions in place to prevent injury. Thankfully, there is a compassionately minded fitness company that takes the safety of their customers with a level of seriousness unfound in other competing companies. LifeSpan Fitness cares, and in our research process, we’ve found their customer center service to be unparalleled.
What makes LifeSpan treadmills stand out from the bunch are the safety certifications they have. The TR1200i treadmill is ETL/ETLc and FCC certified. Furthering the precautions LifeSpan has placed on the TR1200i folding treadmill are the non-slip plastic side rails, which promote balance and extended safety when stopping or starting the treadmill. While injury prevention and operational malfunction is deeply important, what dazzles us most is the sturdy construction of LifeSpan treadmills, while still maintaining a variety of features for a reasonable price.
A good match for walkers and joggers, the 2.5 HP Continuous Duty Motor will last through countless miles and years of use. The eight shock compression shock absorbers built within the TR1200i will become fast friends with your back, as they provide the soft buoyancy strain reduction necessary to keep going. Eight independent shock compression absorbers are an impressive amount considering the same number of shock absorbers are used on an incredibly high-end treadmill, the Life Fitness Platinum Club Series Treadmill, proving the TR1200i can keep up with the big dogs on the playground when it comes to defending your joints.
The indestructible all-steel frame has been meticulously welded robotically to verify precision, assuring the structure of your treadmill is even, sound and stable. A doubled down 2-ply belt creates the 56” x 20” running surface so you can properly test the 0.5-11 mph speed range and 15 levels of incline. Promoting the health of your treadmill’s lasting ability are the 2.5” front and 2” rear rollers, which work to enhance belt and overall treadmill life.
One of the most valuable features the TR1200i Folding treadmill holds is the way it maximizes your floor space. Making it the perfect pairing for those who find themselves in tight quarters, the EZfold folding system cuts the treadmill’s length from 70.25” to 39” when the TR1200i is folded. Should you need to store the it in a different location, there are two front wheels and two back wheels that make forward or backward motion a cinch.
If you’re interested in discovering a well-priced folding treadmill from a safety-focused and dependable brand with motor power that best suits walking and jogging, the LifeSpan TR1200i Folding treadmill is certainly fitting.
If you’re attracted to vibrant colors, the LifeSpan TR1200i Folding treadmill has the console for you! Let the bright lights of the 7” full color digital display stimulate you and bring a bit of the Las Vegas Strip to your home gym. Feeling like you’ve hit the jackpot, honestly speaking, it’s difficult to find a full color digital display at a price point the TR1200i treadmill offers. The lively console doesn’t clutter your workout, but rather pairs beauty and clarity to provide straightforward readouts, perfectly synced to your action with multiple dashboard interfaces to choose from.
Making the TR1200i treadmill further a unicorn from the endless sea of competitors at a similar price point are the extensive 17 preset workout programs providing thoughtful burns such as sports training, healthy living, weight management and many more. For comparison, the bare bones Horizon T202 treadmill provides a whopping (kidding) total of five workout programs and no animated display to experience joy from. Talk about a let down! Alas, the TR1200i treadmill’s high count of varying workouts provided will boost your mood and burn as each Lifespan preset workout was crafted by exercise psychologists, proving further just how thoughtfully customer-focused of a brand they are.
Listen, it’s hard work to feel motivated to work out sometimes, especially when a treadmill takes a good deal of brain power to navigate or time to get started. One of the many reasons we appreciate the LifeSpan TR1200i Folding treadmill is because it’s simple to use but not sacrificial on the technology needed for a comfortable exercise experience. Helping to make working out less of an ordeal and more of an adventure full of convenience are the large up/down arrows, Enter and Start buttons, and Quickset key. At just one easy push of a visibly enhanced button you can be moving onward and upward.
Meeting today’s technology is the bluetooth capability enabling your workout summaries to be synced to fitness apps for simple progress tracking. Verifying your readouts are accurate is the Intelli-Step technology that takes counting your steps with accuracy very seriously, while the contact heart rate sensors and chest strap receiver give you options to keep you up to date on your internal beat.
If even more technological capability piques your interests, we’d recommend you look to the NordicTrack T 6.5 Si treadmill, although it comes at a greater cost with a weak warranty and smaller rollers, which might speak to the lack of longevity in its build. Overall, if you’re not trying to keep up with the futuristic Joneses (or, shall we say, Jetsons?) LifeSpan certainly meets the technology moment, despite the TR1200i Folding Treadmill being their most budget-friendly option.
The LifeSpan TR1200i Folding treadmill gives you bang for the buck and certainly is a solid investment choice for your wallet. Considering the TR1200i folding treadmill is the most budget-friendly option LifeSpan offers, it truly doesn’t get cheaper than this if you’re looking for a LifeSpan treadmill. However, if you want to move into competitor territory to seek out an even cheaper option, you can look to the Horizon T101 treadmill.
Let’s play a little game of this versus that, shall we? You can snatch up the T101 treadmill for less money while still receiving a 2.5 continuous duty HP motor, retaining folding ability, and up the ante with a lifetime warranty on the motor. However, don’t let this insight fool you, as the lower cost does not come without user sacrifice. The Horizon T101 treadmill is as bare as treadmills come and has no digital colored display in sight. Furthermore, the Horizon T101 treadmill has a slower speed range, lower incline ability, a decreased running surface and only five workout programs. When it comes down to it, you’ll have to weigh the pros and cons of spending more or getting less.
Pros and Cons
The most obvious con the LifeSpan TR1200i Folding Treadmill has is that its motor has only 2.5 HP. Unfortunately, if you’re an avid runner, this just won’t do. We’d advise you upgrade to a more powerful motor in order to sustain your fast pace; we recommend at least 3.0 HP for running, but believe most should actually pursue a 3.25 HP treadmill for consistent running. If you’re tight on budget but need more power, a solid alternative to the LifeSpan TR1200i treadmill is the Sole Fitness F63 treadmill, which provides a 3.0 HP DC motor.
That being said, we’re big fans of LifeSpan as a consumer-focused company and if you can swing it, the LifeSpan TR4000i folding treadmill comes with the added technological comfort LifeSpan has and is specifically designed for runners, with a 3.25 HP continuous duty DC motor. Despite the TR1200i Folding treadmill being a bargain, it still holds a continuous duty motor, which is the ideal type of motor to have as it reflects that the number listed is the power that will be maintained through each workout. Other motor descriptions, such a peak duty or treadmill duty, speak to the inconsistency of power throughout your workout, and can ultimately create a less than smooth exercise experience as well as strain the motor.
You can rest assured that the TR1200i Folding treadmill has your back for the longterm if you’re a walker or jogger. We’re not thrilled about the 20” x 56” running surface, as we personally prefer a 60” length running surface, but depending on your height, the four less inches may not be that noticeable. Another gripe is the maximum weight capacity only being 200 pounds, making this treadmill far less inclusive than we’d like it to be. Despite a lower weight limit, the TR1200i folding treadmill has and incredibly sturdy construction and offers a lifetime warranty on the frame to prove it.
Folding ability on a treadmill can be hard to find and a huge asset to call upon when you have unexpected guests or storage concern. There are endless pros to the LifeSpan TR1200i Folding treadmill, including its rugged build, advanced safety certifications, straightforward navigation, vibrant display and low pricing for the durability provided.
One of the most important pros in our book is always warranty, as it shows that a brand trust and stands behind its products. A treadmill purchased should be a one-time financial sacrifice that will last a lifetime. The LifeSpan TR1200i Folding treadmill comes with a competitive warranty that we detail in the warranty section below.

Warranty and Guarantee
An always worthwhile pro is a solid warranty, as it offers solace for your mental state when making a large purchase and speaks to the trusted build of the treadmill you’re thinking about roping into your wellness routine. LifeSpan takes care of their customers, not only in reliable design, safety certifications, active customer service and mindfully created workout programs by psychologists, but also in the warranty category.
The TR1200i Folding treadmill, despite being the cheapest treadmill in their vast lineup, offers a lifetime frame warranty. Other popular brands, such as NordicTrack, only offer 10 years of frame coverage, even on their most expensive luxury Commercial X32i model, making it plain to see just how special the LifeSpan TR1200i Folding Treadmill is when it comes to frame coverage.
A 5-year motor warranty also takes NordicTrack to the cleaners as they don’t offer motor coverage at all. Meanwhile, the 2-years parts and 1-year labor warranty provided with the TR1200i Folding Treadmill is nothing spectacular but definitely meets the average standard for today’s treadmill warranties.
Summing Up This Review
Simply put, if you’re a walker or jogger looking for a space-saving treadmill that is built tough and doesn’t skimp on technological display, the LifeSpan TR1200i is a wonderful choice to make on behalf of your wallet and health.
